A “passport size photo” in India is usually 35 mm wide by 45 mm high — not a square. At 300 DPI that is 413 × 531 pixels. Exam portals add a second trap: the JPEG must sit in a KB band (SSC often 20–50 KB). This guide is the checklist; the tool that does the crop lives on /photo.
Stand one step from a plain white or cream wall. Face a window. Keep the phone at eye level. Hair off the forehead. No sunglasses. Religious head covering is fine if you wear it daily — keep the full face visible. Everdailyindia Photo does not auto-remove backgrounds, so the wall has to be clean in the camera, not in Photoshop.
